Ministry Vision

Standing Stone Bible Church is committed to cultivating a multigenerational, Christ-centered family of believers where students and young adults are known, discipled, and equipped to follow Jesus for a lifetime. We believe students grow best when the whole church invests in them and when age-specific environments provide intentional teaching, mentoring, and relationship-building.

We are seeking an energetic, innovative, and relational Pastor to lead ministries for middle school, high school, and young adults. This man must demonstrate a clear calling to teach Scripture faithfully, shepherd students, young adults, and families, and build a ministry that shines the light of Christ throughout the greater Gretna area.

Job Classification

  • Full-time, salaried position
  • Minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Sunday mornings and elder responsibilities are expected but not counted toward paid hours

Working Relationships

  • Serves alongside, and under the guidance of, the Senior Pastor and elected Elders
  • Collaborates with church staff and volunteer ministry teams
  • Provides leadership and direction to all student and young adult ministry volunteers

Core Responsibilities - Student Ministries (Grades 6–12)

  • Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for all student ministry environments, including
  • Wednesday programming, Bible studies, outreach events, retreats, and service opportunities.
  • Build a balanced, scalable ministry strategy including Bible teaching, discipleship, worship, evangelism, missions, fellowship, and recreation.
  • Teach Scripture faithfully and equip students to defend their faith and make disciples.
  • Engage students throughout the week through personal connection, presence at activities, and intentional relationship-building.
  • Maintain strong communication with parents through digital tools, social media, and in-person connection.
  • Ensure a safe, orderly environment; administer discipline when necessary and document interactions appropriately.
  • Follow biblical conflict-resolution principles when tensions arise.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and support volunteer leaders; build a healthy team culture.
  • Develop student leaders and empower older students to mentor younger ones.
  • Manage ministry budget, resources, and scheduling.
  • Coordinate with leadership to align Wednesday night programming across all ages.
  • Maintain compliance with church policies, safety protocols, and applicable laws.
  • Be available nights and weekends as ministry needs require.

Core Responsibilities - Young Adult Ministry (Post-High School to Early Marriage)

  •  Shepherd young adults navigating college, career, and early marriage.
  • Assemble a young adult ministry leadership team to plan and run regular meetings.
  • Create environment for discipleship, community, and intergenerational mentoring.
  • Promote marriage-building opportunities and partner with outside ministries when appropriate.
  • Plan and coordinate special events such as couple’s nights, progressive dinners, service projects, and fellowship gatherings.

Additional Pastoral Responsibilities

  • Occasional Sunday preaching as coordinated with the Senior Pastor and Elders
  • Biblical counseling for students, young adults, and families
  • Hospital visits, home visits, and pastoral care as needed
  • Room setup for various ministries as needed (set up tables, chairs, etc).
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor or Elders

Qualifications

  • Born-again believer with a clear testimony of faith and commitment to the Lordship of Christ
  • Calling to pastoral ministry affirmed by pastors, elders, and mentors
  • Meets biblical qualifications for an Elder (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1)
  • Demonstrates spiritual maturity, humility, integrity, and a shepherd’s heart
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred; formal seminary education is valued but not required
  • Prior pastoral ministry experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong communicator—clear, confident, and biblically grounded
  • Relational, approachable, and able to connect with the multigenerational family at Standing Stone
  • Skilled in leadership, delegation, team-building, and conflict resolution
  • Organized, creative, and capable of managing multiple ministry environments
  • Competence with technology, including Microsoft Office, church management software, and current social media platforms
  • Ability to create and/or source relevant digital content for student engagement
  • Physically able to participate in moderately active student events
  • Willing to relocate to Gretna, Nebraska
  • Family supportive of the ministry calling and location
  • Must pass criminal, financial, and sexual misconduct background checks
