We celebrated and thanked the moms. Thank you gals for your amazing ability to nurture, admonish, love, and build our children up. Every mom is uniquely special but also gifted by the Lord with an ability to care for children that is amazing. Moms, we appreciate and thank you!
We sang... we sang of having the strength to meet our trials, "day by day" given by the Father. We pleaded in song for God to "bind us together," celebrating that there is only one God, one King, one body. We then sang of the firm foundation we have in Christ. Why would He fail now? He won't! He's faithful through generations!!! We finished singing praise "for all You've done" - for all that Christ did to live, die, rise again, all to open the way for we to live again. Hallelujah!!!
The message returned us to the idea of praying for marriage in God's will (1 John 5:14-15). We asked "what is God's will in marriage" considering Genesis 2:24. God's will is that we leave parents, that we join with one another (cleave) and that we become one flesh. God's will in leaving is the couple still honors their parents but they be more concerned with each other. God's will in cleaving means "til death do us part." Divorce is not God's will. God's will in "one flesh" is certainly about the sexual union but ultimately about more and more living as one (not two)... sharing bodies, possessions, ideas, problems, success, and suffering. Husbands, lead... and love your wife. Wives, submit... and respect your husband.
