Memorial Day Edition

"Happy" Memorial Day!  "Happy" doesn't quite seem right.   Memorial Day is really more of a somber day - a day meant to honor and remember U.S. military service members who died in service to their country.  Thus...
Have a meaningful Memorial Day!
Or, how about:  "Wishing you a peaceful Memorial Day"?

Today we remember those who have served and sacrificed, our veterans and heroes.  We also, each of us, might take time to remember our loved ones that are gone.   I'm mindful of Isaiah 2:4 that speaks of that future day when "...they shall beat their swords into plowshares...neither shall they learn war anymore." Thankfully, we will have peace in God's eternal kingdom.  This does not come without a cost of war... Jesus paid that cost. Likewise...our country is quite peaceful ... that peace marked on this day by the cost of war.    Thank you to those who gave their lives!

Make time today to do something meaningful.   Even if just pausing at this time to reflect, to thank God, and remember.

Church Notes...

For those bringing children to Sunday school, "Promotion Sunday" is this Sunday.  This means...

•Pre-school through those going into 5th Grade will be in rooms 117-118 downstairs (for the summer).

•Those going into 9th grade will now join with the high school class in rooms 115-116.
•Senior Graduates get to choose!   They may remain in the high school class for the summer or join another adult class (the 18–26 year-old class is recommended – meets in room 123).
