Rod invited us to the fall feast table as he shared about Yom Teruah ("day of blowing") - most often called "Rosh Hashanah" on the calendars. The challah bread - you heard - was made wrong.... supposed to be braided. Three braids (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). And round to represent the king's crown. I was told afterwards (thanks Ken Begg) that he thought this was a setup for Jude... as the bread represented "false believers." So, I totally missed it! Whew!!! Note also, there is significance in blowing the shofar (ram's horn) . This feast is an alert. The sound of the Shofar is a wake-up call! Christ is returning... wake up! Go back and listen to Rod's presentation to learn more about the significance of these fall feasts to us.
We shared in music - lifting praises to God.... and we then had two sermons. Well, sort of. First was a challenge to younger believers, in light of the assassination of Charlie Kirk to act boldly on their faith, even when it costs them. We considered 2nd Timothy - Paul's words reminding Timothy to not be fearful, be instead faithful, embracing courage, and finishing strong. The challenge was to take one concrete step this week.
The message then continued exploring Jude 5–8, emphasizing the ongoing presence of false believers within the church and God’s sure judgment against sin and rebellion. We compared the historical examples given with how defiance and immorality lead to destruction, both physically and spiritually. Verse 8 connects these warnings to false believers in the church today, highlighting three key sins: defiling the flesh, rejecting authority, and blaspheming the glorious ones. We stressed the importance of submission to God’s Word and godly leadership, pursuit of holiness, and reliance on God’s grace rather than one’s own strength, reminding us that true faith is evidenced by purity, obedience, and humility.
