The Threefold Testimony: Water, Blood, and Spirit
In three short messages, we read of the threefold testimony of Jesus—water, blood, and Spirit. Jesus’ baptism demonstrates God’s approval, and the Holy Spirit testifies of His truth. Believers are encouraged first to reflect on their own testimony of Jesus and rely on the Spirit for spiritual transformation. We then connect baptism and communion as the bookends of Jesus’ ministry—His baptism initiating His work and communion remembering His sacrificial death. Communion serves as a tangible, active way to recall Jesus’ life, death, and presence, helping believers stay connected to Him. We then shared in communion and moved to the third message highlighting how we continue to bear testimony of Jesus through baptism, communion, and a Spirit-filled life. These practices signify obedience, fellowship, and ongoing witness until Jesus returns, when the ordinances will no longer be needed because believers will be in His direct presence.
