STANDING STONE BIBLE

WEEKLY

October 19, 2026

It was a good visit for missions yesterday as Andy & Nixon shared.   A few of you got some messages twice (Jaime?).   We heard much about the outreach to Colombia.   In addition, a few of our folks spent time with the crew to get some instruction on sharing the gospel there.  This was an important help in advance of the January trip.  Be in prayer for Nixon and others that will be sharing Jesus.  You may also financially support those going as well.  Finally, may this be a reminder to each of us to be talking about Jesus daily to others.  As much darkness as there is there, our culture is growing darker every day.  Be light!

Speaking of darkness, the message spoke of darkness in one of three connected problems.   We reviewed Ephesians 1-3 (identity).  Then, as we continued in Ephesians 4:17–19, we saw the futility of the world’s thinking through darkened understanding, alienation from the life of God, and hardness of heart. The world may be remarkably intelligent and technologically advanced, yet remain blind to what it ought to do because its thinking is separated from the Creator’s truth. These same dangers can affect us as believers when we begin thinking like the world, put ourselves back on the throne, or repeatedly hear God’s Word without responding to it.   We learned three new acronyms:   CPR — Christ Provides Resurrection for those dead in sin;  For believers that need to submit again to Christ, AED — Acknowledge Christ’s authority, Examine your heart, Dethrone yourself; and EKG — Examine your heart.   Keep it responsive to God’s Word… and Guard it against growing callousness.

Sin promises freedom but enslaves, as desires that should be governed by God become our masters. “But that is not the way you learned Christ!” We don’t merely learn morals, religious information, or techniques for a better life—we learn Christ Himself, the living Lord who gives us new life and reshapes us by His truth.

Two were baptized at the end of the worship service.  Always a special time when we here of the miracle of new life in Christ and submission to Him.  Be in prayer for Shelby & Isaac.
Voting in Two Weeks - I mentioned this on Sunday during the message and it bears repeating.  As we consider the hardness of hearts and the culture today...

  • If we can vote for politicians that wholeheartedly support abortion. . . . that is hard heartedness.  You shall not murder.
  • If we vote for politicians that redefine marriage and sexual morality… that is hard heartedness.  We are to flee from sexual immorality.
  • If we vote for politicians who do not understand the definition of male and female, that is hard heartedness.  Male and female He created them.

Each of us should vote on November 3rd (or in advance).  Vote as righteously as you can and avoid voting for hard-heartedness.
Help us in the pastoral search.    The job opportunity for youth pastor is still on our website here:   https://standingstonebible.church/job-opening
You may forward this link to others; it includes a link at the bottom for potential candidates to apply - they complete a simple form and attach their resume.

Is this your typical week?

Stop at the OAsis on Wednesday nights at SSB church.  Dinner is at 6pm followed by activities for all ages.

We all need encouragement.

THIS WEEK

Here are the highlights of classes and events THIS week

Men's Fire!!! -  The men have an outdoor event planned this Friday night near Mahoney State Park.   Join us for burgers, hotdogs, music, and a fire.  Yay, fire!!!  Bring your son, dad, a friend.  This will be at Josh Nelson's dad's barn near Mahoney State Park.  28202 W Park Highway, Ashland.   Bring a lawn chair and a side dish or desert.
Note:  Apple's maps doesn't do well with the address.   If you are being taken to a location in front of SAC Museum, your map is wrong.  Take the Mahoney State Park/Highway 66 exit and turn northwest (turn right if coming from Gretna).   Take the FIRST right (286th Street).  It's a white rock road and you will see a sign saying "no outlet."    After that, turn right onto Park Drive.  That will curve off to the left (then curving slight right and left again).  A few hundred feet later, on your left you should see the blue "28202" sign where the drive is.  You'll see the large, brown, square shed - pull on in and park!

BCH Training - Saturday at 9am @ SSB.   Rod Jensen continues this 8-week course.

upcoming events

Make note of the classes and events available in the near future

Anti-Fraud Seminar - Ken C will be presenting info and guidance for all to be aware of the invasive dangers of fraud in our technological world.  Senior citizens have been especially hit by these schemes.   He will give guidance to be aware of what is out there as well as safeguards to have in place to protect yourself (and other loved ones).   You may also invite outside family and friends.  This will be on Saturday, November 7th, 9am, at SSBC.

Did You Know?

We call our small groups Life Groups because they are small groups dealing with life.

A typical Life Group (LG) gathering meets in a home with an opening time for sharing and prayer.  Study in God's Word most often follows, and then fellowship.  Typically our LG's meet twice a month.

There are a number running and we are always desiring new ones.  You can find the list under
