May 11, 2026
- Election Prayer Site - During the day, tomorrow (Tuesday), SSB is a polling site (see events below). During that time, we will have the east door at the south end of the church unlocked and the sanctuary will be open like to come in and pray. The door will be marked as well. This is an opportunity for you to meet some folks here, bring some folks or just come and pray by yourself. Pray for the election, our nation, our church, etc. Park in the east lot and enter that door. Please Note: Please do not enter the narthex through those narthex/sanctuary doors.
- NO OAsis this week or next or the Wednesday after - We are on "pause" until the fall. Prayer Force and the youth LIGHThouse (6-12th grade) will continue to meet during the summer months.
- Sunday's Message centered on the discouragement that comes when our present situation seems smaller, weaker, or less impressive than what once was. In Haggai 2, the older generation remembers the grandeur of Solomon's Temple. That comparison threatens to drain courage from the people just as rebuilding has begun. God meets discouragement not by restoring the past, but by repeating His command: be strong, work, and remember, “I am with you.” God’s work is often hidden inside ordinary faithfulness—prayer, repentance, service, teaching, and perseverance—things that may seem small but carry eternal weight. Rather than measuring the present by nostalgia, believers are called to trust that God’s Spirit remains and that He is doing something larger than they can presently see. The promise of the passage reaches beyond the second temple to the coming of Jesus Christ, whose presence would make the latter glory greater than the former.
- The Living Room. This coffee house event will on Saturday, May 23rd. Same suggestion as last week: If you are a grandparent with some college age grandchildren, invite them out to this. Come anytime from 6:30 to 9:30 pm and stay as long as you like - coffee, live music, games.
