  • Prayer Force will continue for the summer.  
Join on Wednesday nights at 7pm.  
Thomas Watson on prayer:  "When we pray to our Father, heaven cannot be blocked up. In faith, though we may not yet have the thing we pray for, we believe God will grant it, and are willing to wait for his leisure. If we have no answer, we may continue to knock knowing an answer will come. A believer lets down the net of prayer until mercy comes. Patience in prayer is nothing but faith spun out. God is both ready to hear and grant our prayers (Psa. 65:2). He may hear prayer though he does not immediately answer it. When he gives us a heart to pray, and inflames the affections in prayer, this itself is an answer to prayer."

  • Our Message from Haggai centered on discouragement, comparison, and the temptation to measure God’s work by visible results. As the older men remember Solomon’s magnificent temple and become disheartened by how small the new one appears, God tells them, “Be strong… work… for I am with you.”  God’s presence is more important than impressive appearances, and faithfulness in ordinary obedience matters deeply in the God's economy.  We took from 2nd Corinthians 4 and 1st Corinthians 1 to remind us that God often works through weakness, smallness, and seemingly insignificant acts of obedience to accomplish eternal glory. Nostalgia that idolizes the “good old days” is a danger;  may we stop measuring present faithfulness against past experiences or emotions. Ultimately, Jesus Christ is the greater glory promised in Haggai. Keep building faithfully because God is still at work even when you cannot yet see the full outcome.

  • The Living Room.  This Saturday is The Living Room.   This is a coffee house event that folks can come and go anytime.    Bring a friend, enjoy some live music, grab a coffee (hot or iced), visit with others, play a game or two, or just relax.  This runs from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at Turtle Doves in Gretna.

THIS WEEK

Here are the highlights of classes and events THIS week

CCS End of Year Program - Tonight at 7pm is the Colossae Collaborative School's end of year program.  Join to enjoy these kiddos wrap up their school year.  

LIGHThouse -  For grades 6th - 12th (which includes those finishing 5th grade).   This runs from 7pm until 8:15.  (note:  a time-change for summer coming soon).  Note:  There is no TLT (teen Life Group) on Sunday nights in May
  • TLT (Teen Life Truths) - This is a 10-week study of basic life principles that we recommend all those entering 6th grade take a part in.  This will begin Wednesday at 6:30pm.   It will finish around when regular LIGHThouse activities conclude.  Older children may also join (many have taken this a couple of times). 

Prayer Force -  On Wednesday nights, 7pm, Prayer Force will continue meeting through the summer.  

Living Room - Join us Saturday night for the monthly coffee house.   6:30 to 9:30 pm at Turtle Doves.

SSB Offices Closed Next Monday -  The church office will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday the 25th.  

Information Class - Beginning on June 7th will be a three-week information class about the history and doings of Standing Stone Bible Church.  This will take place during the Sunday school hour at SSB.  8:45 am Sunday mornings June 7, 14, and 21st.  This is great for all newer folks.  This is also a required class for any wishing to be members.

Movie Night - Mark your calendars for a special popcorn movie night on Friday, June 12th at SSB.  

For the Master Special Father's Day Concert:  For the Master will also be presenting their patriotic concert at Standing Stone Bible on the evening of Sunday, June 21st (Father's Day).  Mark your calendar!
