STANDING STONE BIBLE

WEEKLY

July 27, 2026

We interrupt this prayer to bring you an important message!    Our message on Sunday was based on an interrupted prayer.   At the beginning of Ephesians, chapter three, before praying, Paul pauses to celebrate the mystery of the gospel—that believing Gentiles are fully united with God's people through Christ. Rather than viewing his imprisonment as a setback, Paul sees it as a stewardship entrusted to him by God's grace for the sake of the church. This revealed mystery displays God's manifold wisdom, not only to the world but even to the heavenly rulers and authorities, as the church becomes the living testimony of His redeeming work. Paul's repeated emphasis on "together" reminds us that our identity and privileges are shared in Christ, not experienced in isolation. Because of Christ, we now have bold and confident access to the Father, and because the gospel is of immeasurable worth, it is worthy of any suffering required to proclaim it. Our trials, like Paul's chains, are opportunities for God to display His glory.

A few notes on the Cookout:  Great turnout.  What a fantastic evening in many ways (the weather was about perfect - which was a nice PLUS).  Thank you to all who joined.  It was a sweet time.  We broke in the middle for a few business items.  We did approve some funding for a pastor search as well as funding to obtain an updated curriculum for our Sunday school children.   We finished the evening watching the Gretna Days fireworks.  We have the best spot in town to watch those!

Pastoral Job -  The job opportunity is on our website here:   https://standingstonebible.church/job-opening
You may forward this link to others; it includes a link at the bottom for potential candidates to apply - they complete a simple form and attach their resume.  You may already know the next guy!

A T-Shirt order - Rebekah has offered to place a t-shirt order for any desiring to have a SSB shirt (with our name and logo on it).  The newest ones that were worn in the parade are gray but I also think she might be getting some of the light blue ones as well.  Send her a note if you are interested.

A Sunday Note...   Sunday morning is Communion and Pot Trust. Prepare your heart for communion... and please prepare a dish for Pot Trust.  As my wife recently shared, we've maybe been running short for the food on Pot Trust.  I might need to blame myself as I have told many new folks... "don't worry if you didn't bring food this morning, STAY!"   Certainly God can multiply but Whitney also suggested I ask you to bring food.
